Every politician will say anything to get elected. They will claim a stance on anything, and they will change it immediately or overtime if people start to disagree with them.

An attribute of a great leader is to evolve a point of view as you learn more.  It may seem annoying to some, but actually that is a good attribute not being afraid to also evolve in your thinking.

Donald Trump has always been a very oppositional figure. He thrives off of it. When people say that his current shifts on issues mean that he's becoming more of a Democrat or Centrist, it simply isn't going to last. Right now the Democrats are being nice to him so he's working with them. Tomorrow he'll be a full-blown Republican again, then he'll go back, and he'll continue to pinball around the political spectrum for the remainder of his presidency. I don't think any apparent change in his political leanings will be long-lasting simply because it's impossible to change the public's view of you once you have become as polarized as President Trump has.
