From what I understand, the secessionist movement in Quebec is very strong, and the province already differs from other Canadian territories significantly in many regards (especially in the economical organization). I see no harm in it becoming independent, while preserving trade and immigration relations with Canada. Same goes for Scotland and the UK; Catalonia and Spain.

That said, Canada is already a pretty decentralized country. I do not see much gain on Quebec's part in case of becoming independent, since they already effectively have a freedom to determine almost all of their policies without having to consult with the federal government. I also may be wrong on this, but I remember reading about extended powers Quebec government has compared to other provinces' governments.

So, my stance is the same as with Brexit: it does little harm and brings little gain. Doing it or not doing it will not change much for the people living there in practical terms.

I honestly think that not only should Quebec not become an independent country, but their language should be replace with English to help prevent a separatist movement from rising in the future.

Ehhhhh I'd disagree with changing their language, but as for them not being an independent country, I support that.

Also @Zombieguy1987 and @Polaris95, why not contribute some arguments considering you disagree with Alec's argument?

History has shown that mixing different groups of people into one giant country never works and in the end, Quebecians will eventually take up arms to gain their independence and this can spread to Kurdish separatists in Turkey, Tebit in China etc.

This would cause a chain reaction which could potentially lead to WW3
