What exactly are logic, reason, and rationality?

Debate Information

What exactly are logic, reason, and rationality? Is it something all living species have? Is it something that only Mammals possess? Or is it something that only the Human species have? Are there significant differences between all three and if so, what are they?

My own stance on this is that while human beings possess "the relatively new logical part of the brain" from an evolutionary point of view, humans and life for that matter are still very much illogical. As Daniel Carnegie once said "Humans are creatures more of emotion than of logic," and this is also correct from a Neuroscientific perspective.

Also, as Scott Peck (Author of the Road less traveled) "there comes a time where we should stop thinking of life as if it were a problem to be solved, but rather a mystery to be lived!"

Logic is a system intended to define what is true.

Reason is the ability to rationalize information and assist in the ability to understand what people perceive.

Rationality describes the ability to make rational assessments.

@ZeusAres42 Logos: "I say". Logic is articulate knowledge, as opposed to inarticulate knowledge. Often people know things which they cannot explain, or they cannot explain how they know it; this is inarticulate knowledge. An example could be a "gut feeling" or intuition. Logic is the ability to use words to describe or explain ideas and concepts (and the evidence for them). Prior to language we did not have logos.
