Bad move. Troops would need money from taxpayers account and I don't know why we would have to protect the entire world.

There are troops in Germany, that have been there since WW2 ended.

There are troops, that have been serving along the 32nd parallel in Korea, since the end of the Korean War.

So the troops being in Saudi Arabia wouldn't be anything new.

There should be a group of US troops, or some Ex Military serving as a Guard Force along the Southern Border, to help keep the Illegal immigrants, and the illegal drugs, from coming into the United States.

Man for some reason, will not stop engaging in conflicts, whether in the United States, or around the Globe, for that matter.

So a deterrent, to help deal with those conflicted individuals, and his apparent appetite for waging wars, or in waging small conflicts, by having some of the US troops, in some parts of the world, makes sense.

A side note, the AK-47 rifle, had been in production for so long, that there are enough of those Guns, in various parts of the world, that the parts from those very guns, can be used to remake another AK-47, to be used by various fighters around the world.

(That information, can be found on Wikipedia.)

We haven't made a good move since 2015, and we made a few mistakes then. Today we make bad moves weekly (daily?).

We'll HAVE to deploy more troops in several places in the middle east when ISIS, again, rears it's ugly head. Hopefully, It's done by somebody who knows s/he HAS to listen to those who have some knowledge of what IS happening, and just WHO is causing it …. and WHY!

We have one very large head, loosely filled with a small brain making very dangerous decisions, influenced by very manipulative and admired bad guys who have an equally bad vision of this world. The Saudi killers notwithstanding. :anguished:

War isn't going anywhere, because globally, humanity has continued a centuries long obsession with it.

Kids, in some parts of the world, are taught combat and warfare, as soon as they can heft a weapon.

War is around, because humanity can't apparently, get the notion apparently out of its head?

Weapons galore, and fingers get pointed at any Politician, or some of the leaders of other countries?

War is global conversation, because humanity has caused it to be that way.

When humanity globally gets tired of war, maybe then, we'll globally get along?

So. Since the beginning of time we have had religions, borders, races, and opposing politics, and, here we are. Everybody says we must follow THEIR religion, THEIR "god", THEIR politics, protect THEIR borders, and we find it hasn't worked for centuries.
No worries. Ignoring climate change will likely settle the whole problem … unless a few survive and organize tribes, then we can start all over again. Maybe we'll get it right this time …. if some history books survive. :pensive:

Terrible idea.  Saudi Arabia is a modern country (militarily, anyway) that is well-equipped for their own defense.  Heck, it's largely OUR weaponry that they have at their disposal!  Why on Earth is it worth sending American troops to protect somebody else's livelihood as if our children's lives are somehow less important than the Saudis fighting for their own home?

Additionally, one of the purported reasons we abandoned our Kurdish allies in Syria was because we wanted less to do with the conflict in the Middle East!  So how is this going to achieve that end?

    @PHaze ;
WE ...…. didn't abandon our Kurdish allies, TRUMP DID …. all by his lonesome! I doubt you could find ONE military officer that would agree with the move!

As far as the Saudi's go, they have a lot of money to spend, and to Trump, THAT is worth sending American troops. That, and the fact that they are HIS kind of people ……… authoritarian, ruthless, rich!
