An Ethical Dilemma For Christians

Debate Information

Modern science allows mothers to know what sex their unborn child is.

Just suppose that it could also be possible to also detect what sexuality an unborn child is.

Just suppose you are a devout Christian mother-to-be who found out that your unborn child is homosexual.

Would you seek an abortion?

Thou Shalt not Kill (commit murder). Allowing a Homosexual to live as they see fit is not a sin. Killing them is definitely a sin. Sin is something that takes conception in the mind, which is why Jesus made the point that anger carried to the point of hatred is the same thing as murder. Homosexuality is a sin like any other sin and no better or worse as far as how it is seen by God. To hate an unborn child and want them dead because a test determined that they were sexually oriented towards those of the same sex would be the same conceptually as committing the murder of a living person who was born into this world. Murder is a crime punishable by authorities of the written laws of the land. It is a sin carried into a committed act, i.e. a sin of commission. Hatred is a sin of conception. Hatred and murder are equally sin in God's eyes, because one must be driven by hatred in order to commit murder, and it is the heart that God judges. If a mother aborts her child because of religious hatred towards that child's sexual orientation or for whatever reason hatred has driven them to carry out such an act, they are guilty in the eyes of God.

**** Killing them is definitely a sin.

Leviticus 20:13, states in no uncertain terms that homosexuals should be killed:

“If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”

That is partially true of the Levitical Law as regards members of the nation of Israel under Mosaic Law. However, with the destruction of the Sovereign nation of Judah and its Temple, the Mosaic law came to its end. Although religious jews still follow the prohibitions of the moral portion of the Mosaic Law which would include the prohibition against sodomy, there is no longer any provision for punishment as would have been inflicted by the Sanhedrin for crimes considered worthy of the death penalty, for there is no more Sanhedrin or a sovereign State of Judah to carry it out. Jews are now subject to the laws of the lands where they reside. The modern state of Israel does not follow the Mosaic Law code. Christians are likewise not subject to the Mosaic Law, though they do accept it as a moral guide. God never called for anyone to be killed for "being" homosexual, in other words for feeling attracted to the same sex. Being a homosexual was not something that was even on their radar. The punishment was for sodomy not for homosexuality. An unborn child cannot commit sodomy, so your ethical dilemma is not really a dilemma at all!
