What makes a better pet, a cat or a dog?

Debate Information

There has been a lot of controversy over what animal of the above makes a better pet. I look forward to rational opinions and statements on the basis of what one looks for in a pet specifically, with respect to the personality and behaviour of the animal.

Because all cats and dogs are different a will be speaking generally and what I say may not apply to all dogs or cats. Dogs are often more energetic. This means they often show more excitement to see you. You also normally take dogs on walks which could be a good thing or a bad thing if you treat that as a chore. Dogs being pack animals are often excepting of going where ever you go because they are often happy to go where there pack goes (which is you). This means you can often take them on road trips. I find that some dogs however are harder to leave alone for a long time because they may get stress without there pack. Many cats are fine being left alone for awhile but may not like going places as much. Dogs may be easier to train then cats but cats are often easier to clean up after. Dogs may need more space. Dogs may also bark and cause problems limiting the places you can live with them. I personally prefer my dog because 1.She runs over to the door, her food or me and whines when she needs something so it is easy to know when my dog needs something. 2. She likes going where we go like road trips and being around us. 3. She likes to play with us.
