We often love to credit to those of stoic character who will stick to their guns on a particular issue or doctrine. Such people can even be called charismatic, reliable and even trustworthy, in that they will not swerve from their belief no matter what....even to the point of exhaustion.
But, can such behaviour be the undoing of an individual?
Take Margaret Thatcher for example. She was truly dogmatic with her politics and nothing short of a full frontal lobotomy would ever change her mind on any policy or decision. She was by all accounts, a very successful leader and enjoyed a long innings in office but then came her downfall. She would not budge an inch on introducing the Euro currency into Great Britain and found herself in a completely untenable position. She was well and truly rooted, wasn't she?
