Considering the German record in the last century, I would not be so quick to use this as an argument in support of the system.
Ever notice how every "welfare state" always gets into a crisis eventually that forces the government to either loosen up regulations, or initiate oppression or war to distract the nation from the economical issues? If you want that in the US, feel free to support Bernie. I for one have had enough of violent crises in my life, having lived in 3 different totalitarian states, so I will pass.
He might be the man unto himself, and to his followers, or fanbase, but he's wrong man, for the country as a whole, along with the rest of the Democrats, and the Socialist Democrats.
They would only govern, unto themselves, and towards their followers, or fanbases, not showing a care at all for the rest of the country?
They made that evident, during both of the Democratic Debates.
Well, Bernie Sanders is a man but I fail to see any reason he should or could be referred to as the man.
Aside from promising millions of people trillions of dollars worth of "free" stuff and not having any earthly idea how it will all be paid for or what kind of long-term unintended consequences his policies would have, on what do you base this assertion?
I disagree... He's too old (after 65, stay in game as adviser or something but stay away from elected positions, yeah accuse me of ageism, sure idgf...), and his vision is also outdated, not that I completely disagree with him, I mean the US needs to recenter itself more to the left, I do support universal healthcare and such, but the best "welfare state" system in my opinion, is not what Bernie is proposing, that system would be Denmark State-Capitalism, but I don't know that it would be suited for the US, for multiple reasons...
I really enjoyed this joke man. No debate! Bernie Sanders is a socialist, and practically supports "free" everything, and higher taxes for the rich. The ideas that he has called for in the past, and now are STILL crappy! He might as well quit! I mean cmon! We came so close to disaster when in the last election, we had Trump and Hillary. Thank goodness the sane minded people in the electoral college gave us Trump! Only a democrat, hipster, liberal millennial, small-minded would think of Bernie being a good president. This country as we know it would descend into mass chaos.

We're born alone, we live alone, we die alone. Only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we're not alone.~Orson Welles
His "student loan forgiveness" proposal is really one of a kind, and he has a dozen of such proposals in his program. He also wants to pass the "Green New Deal"...
I wonder if the guy ever took a class on basic economics, or if he just intentionally panders to the most manipulable of the voters. Students who do not know much about the economics and whose votes can be bought by promising them dozens thousands free dollars.
His universal healthcare proposal is impossible to refute. I also think his views on gun rights are the best. I agree with pretty much everything he has to offer, except on economic issues.
Sanders claims health care is a "human right". To me, human rights would include freedom of speech, religion, association, etc. You'll notice that none of those rights involve the property or labor of other humans. Please explain for me how any human has a "right" to other humans' labor, goods or services. It would logically follow that any time a human lays claim to the labor of any other human, the laborer has been enslaved. I thought we did away with that in America 156 years ago.
If health care is a human right, how about lawn care or car care or HVAC service? I really don't want to hear that health care is different; it's the livelihood of a LOT of people and if I were one of them, I'd be pretty damned insulted that so many people think that they're entitled to the fruits of my labors.
You say you agree with Sanders on everything except economic issues. When you think about it, nearly everything a President deals with is an economic issue. Sanders is an economically illiterate and dangerous dunce who panders to people looking for handouts. The sooner we recognize that fact and reject him out of hand, the sooner we can get back to looking for serious leadership in our country.
I never claimed healthcare is a right, so I guess you'll have to take that up with Bernie himself. As far as I'm concerned, technological advancements in the medical industry won't happen if everybody doesn't invest in it. The only other viable option is to prohibit the use of our hospitals and doctors for those who don't invest. I don't think Bernie would agree with that stance, but I'd have no issues with an "opt out" option.
