NASCAR driver Rajah Caruth talks career momentum on and off the track
NASCAR's Triple Truck Challenge will wrap up soon, but it's just the start for young driver Rajah Caruth. He's already clinched a spot in the sport's postseason, and is just one of a handful of racers to have multiple Top Ten finishes this...

Interesting question!
I guess it could be called evolution, at least the part where the AGI "redesigns" itself could correspond to that... Should we make distinction between "natural" selection and "intentional" selection, with regards to Evolution?? If so why?
We could right now, start engineering our own evolution in our basement... The gene editing technique CRISPR is ridiculously affordable for such a powerful tool. For about $159 usd, anyone can make at home, bio-luminescent beer by editing yeast genes... Using the same technique, we can make glowing mice and cats... With the entire human genome already mapped and the technique so easy and affordable, we can now decide what we want to be instead of letting Nature go on with blind trials & errors... Wouldn't "intentional" selection be evolution too?
Funny thing is, with your AI example, I think it would actually be "natural" selection too, as this self-reprogramming or redesigning, would be in the very "nature" of an AGI, no?

If the computer evolved exponentially daily beyond man would it be wrong for the computer to conclude that it is the superior species and to doubt something like a human, with limited knowledge and capability, to create it?
Then to conclude that it is more likely it created man, that man’s so-called history books are fictitious and lack of what it considers evidence? (agreement of all facts)
Or that man needs to be treated like animals or pets, considering their level of never dying, knowing every fact, present everywhere, see just about everything, does about everything in handling all production.
I know this sounds like science fiction, but it almost seems pretty plausible by what we are achieving.

Yeah, machines taking over the world, Skynet, etc... The possibility exist... Considering the computational power needed to just approach that level of AGI, one has to wonder what would happen if it actually crossed an hypothetical threshold into consciousness... With a few Qbits to power this consciousness, it is a little bit scary but fascinating at the same time. How would such an AGI react to existential paradoxes, how would an AGI react to Nietzsche or Camus? Would it commit suicide after realizing existence is futile? Maybe it'll keep shutting off for no apparent reason...
Robert J. Sawyer (a favorite sci-fi author of mine) explore this very subject (artificial awareness) in his WWW trilogy (Wake, Watch, Wonder)... If you like provocative sci-fi (titles include: Calculating God, Manufacturing Humanity, and a few others), he's a very very good one!

Evolution of life can be described in the same way: our organisms become more and more sophisticated, as they "learn" over time to respond most efficiently to the challenges the environment makes us face routinely, and at some point become so sophisticated that they no longer even need the environment to challenge them to grow; they themselves can control the process of growth, in case of humans through intentional physical training, medicine, genetic engineering, learning and so on.
Whether the organism has been artificially created by another organism or not, it is still a subject to this process. Initially AIs will develop randomly. At some point they will become self-aware enough to be able to direct this development process in the most efficient way. There is no limit to this process. And while we could take credit for initiating it for AIs, we cannot take credit for the process itself, as it is outside our control.
