One should have the work week that they have chosen. Me, I prefer to work every day for a few hours, at least, otherwise I feel bad about not having accomplished much. And my line of work also strongly relies on sharpness of thinking, and I can feel my brain getting duller even after a full one day break, which negatively impacts work for the next few days.
If I only worked 4 days a week and took the other 3 days off, then I would not be able to accomplish much, and I would be easily outcompeted by those ambitious individuals willing to work 7 day weeks.
The way I see it, if someone starts thinking about reducing their work hours, then it is an indication of one of the two things: either they do not like their job that much, or they have some health issues preventing them from enjoying it. In the former case one should change their job, and in the latter case they should tend to their health issues or, again, change their job. Your job should not cause you to think about working less. If it does, then you have chosen a wrong job.
