Why is discrimination being taught in our schools?

Debate Information

Let me tell you a story about a little girl in 2nd g.rade in the 70's.

This littlte girl attended a school where there were only a handful of children in her ethnic group.  Only in second grade like many other kids at her age had  no idea that there were suppose to be some kind of difference between people because of the color of their skin.  In second grade she was soon to be educated about the precieved differences that the color of her and her best friends skin made.

She and her friend were told on a regular basis that they wished their mommas would die.  Constance questions of how the two little girls couuld be best friends because of the difference of their color.  When the girls would challenge the question as why they shouldn't be friends the majority of the responses came down to because of the difference in our race.  For the most part the two girls ignored these verbal attacks and happily continued being best friends.  It wasn't until the first little girl went over to her best friends house that she was finally to feel the reality of the discrimination.  While the best friends mother and siblings were very excepting of their relationship the father was not.  He came home from work took one look at the little girl and started going in to a yelling rant on how his daughter was not allowed to hangout with a girl of that color.  The little girl after hearing this ran home crying hesterically burst into her house and demanded that her mother explain to her what was wrong with her color.  How did it make her a bad person.

Can you guess which race the two girls were?  Does it matter?

What matters is that no child should feel marginalized becsuse of their race,

So explain to me the trend of teaching white privilege to our children.

How is marginalizing a white child any different then telling a child of color that they do not desearve the American dream because of their color.

Why are we not celebrating the differences in cultures while teaching our children that cultural differences and color do not matter.

Why are we perpetuating the negative views that we would like to be in our past.

We need to teach our children that race, sex, sexual preferences, religious or non religious beliefs are not what make the person or the persons ability to achieve.  Teach them not to judge a book by it's cover but what is inside.

This would change a generation and maybe racism and sexism will fade.
