A little birdie just told me that they believe that logical fallacies are only for debate and/or discussion.
I think that is blatantly, and emphatically incorrect.
But what is a logical fallacy anyways? A logical fallacy is an illogical conclusion or flaw in logical reasoning which renders the entire thing invalid.
Thus, it stands to reason that a logical fallacy could be present anywhere that reasoning is used, including not just in debates and discussions, but also in books, TV, media, vernacular, and most importantly: thought.
If you do not accept this reality, then you must believe that your thinking is flawless, that you can make no mistake. This prideful hubris is a sure sign of a irrationality, because surely if someone believes they are immune to logical fallacies in thinking then they will not recognize that they made one.
At some point in the distant past, the universe went through a phase of cosmic inflation,
Stars formed, planets coalesced, and on at least one of them life took root.
Through a long process of evolution this life developed into the human race.
Humans conquered fire, built complex societies and advanced technology .
All of that so we can argue about nothing.
