Let's get the record straight.
Assuming that Jesus Christ ever lived (and that's a big assumption) he would have died for one reason only. That is, he would have been one heck of a bad-aced, charismatic charlatan, no different to more modern contemporaries such as Jones and Koresh.
The amount of grief, death and suffering he caused among his deluded gullible followers and their hapless families would have been more than enough for the authorities to take action against such a miserable parasite on society. So, He was summarily dealt with.
That was the end of the whole "Son of God" episode until of course, some 300 years later someone dug up some vague references through unverified, anecdotal scriptures to such an event and made a big deal out of it.
And, you bet on it that in some 300 years time, after Christianity has been long gone and forgotten about, some unscrupulous opportunist is going to dig up a tattered copy of Time magazine. And off we go again. He'll put out the story about this "loving" man called Jim Jones; and he certainly seemed to love all the young women in his cult, didn't he?
We will hear of all the struggles with the fascist authorities of the time and how he defiantly rose above it all.
And how he was so unselfish in allowing over nine hundred others in the cult be martyrs with him.
And how every naive, gullible, impressionable nitwit around is going to believe the story of such a kind, loving son of God who saved humanity.
Glory be to Jones.
