There has been some conjecture as to what constitutes, or by what standard one can judge people as being normal.
Normal: (of a person) free from physical or mental disorders.
So, in the context of religion, one would use the word to describe a person who has no religion or does not believe in any spiritual presence, especially given that atheism can be described as being a neutral position, i.e. no particular bias.
I am not suggesting that we should therefore call theists "abnormal", but should we not look at atheism as being the default position and theism as being "beyond the norm"?
