When we are certain, we won't be interested in new data.
We know the "truth", and any other position is just "wrong".
When we use faith, we base our belief that something is true on our feelings, and we might "feel" that we know the truth.
Closing ourselves off from any data that can potentially dis-confirm our bias means that we won't change our minds, but not being able to change our minds does not mean we know what's true.Basing our beliefs on feelings, on our desires that something is true does not mean that it is. It just means that we wish that it is real.
The only way to know something is if we have evidence for it.
