It seems like every other day, we see a new story in the press about how social media is ruining our lives. That it causes
eating disorders in children. That it's
designed to be addictive. That it
harms your mental health. That it
leads to jealousy. The list goes on. However, I can't help but think that these downsides are almost always caused by improper or excessive use of social media, and that they are outweighed by the vast positive effects it has: connecting people around the world, spreading positive moods online, bringing attention to important issues, and so on. I will explain each of these reasons fully in my post, but for now I will leave it at that.
