  • Argument Topic: Yes governments absolutely should.

If governments encouraged people to grow food instead lawns, people wouldn't need to have to mow the lawn that much or at all, which would mean less carbon emissions because carbon-dioxide can get released into the air from mowing the lawn just from the grass getting cut.

Argument Topic: Yes, but gardening can be way more resource intensive than farming.

This is a good idea but people can spend high amounts of resources on gardening. People tend to fall in love with gardens.

  • Argument Topic: Somewhat.

I agree with this, there is so much mass production to get fresh produce to our tables. Firstly, the shipping is so consequential for our environment with the pollution of the vehicles that it requires. It would also make people healthier, as they will be eating their own produce, as well as making people more active in planting. Not to mention the benefits with mental health. More people would be outside and getting involved.

However, we cant just just rely on our own produce, we need to consider what would happen upon an event that kills all of your crop; like a storm for example, what do you do then? Its also incredibly time consuming and A LOT of effort. For people who's jobs take them everywhere and they never spend long periods of time at home, what do THEY do? You can never take a break with growing. As well as it leads into a slippery sloap, of chemicals and add on's to help improve plants. On one hand this genetic testing and enhancing of plant production on produce is good but the chemicals used for it are not.
