Harding became president. This is what happens when you allow the rich and powerful to stay that way for too long. Big monopolies are even worse than local monopolies like the company store. Powerful monopolies have massive political power that the only restaurant in town can never have despite having both a local monopoly and monopsony.

After watching that excellent TV documentary, "The Men Who Built America", i can say that Rockerfeller from Standard Oil, was one of many very powerful men who bought the US election which brought President Warrren Harding to power.       Of course, what Mr Dreamer is trying to imply, is that Big Oil is therefore evil so anthropogenic climate change must be real.      But if he had any appreciation of history, he would figure out that a similar thing is happening today with Big Media and the Democratic Party, and he approves of it.    

Democratic western civilisation today is in danger of collapse because the multinational companies, big media, top civil servants, the public service, and other normally exclusively hostile interest groups, have come together as a self defending group to try and undermine democracy, because they really do believe that a society ruled by elites is preferable to a government which governs from the consent of the governed.     And all they need to do to win support from people like Mr Dreamer is to portray their evil intent as being somehow noble, which is crating utopia, and the virtue signaling Mr Dreamer's of this world will fall all over themselves to support them.
