Should Police be required to engage gunmen while in the act of massacre without backup or exceptions

Debate Information

In the Uvalde school shooting. Officers stood by while the gunmen massacred its victims. Should police officers have an obligation to die among the innocent or be stripped of their valor. Are police officers willing to die for a child or when the odds of being fatally wounded are high?

I believe these unintentional tragedies give a harder role for government to stand on. You have citizens in conflict with law enforcement which is responsible for keeping the peace. If that wasnt enough, you've now created a rift within law enforcement stripping them of their dignity by stripping them of any hard work because they cowardly failed to die with the victims. This has caused officers to harrass people who know things no one else knows to keep them from getting the word out. And then you have constitutional rights violated meanwhile this issue gets worse every time a new public shooting arises.

What do you think government should do about officers not willing to die for others in situations where death is most likely. What will change 5-10 years from now?

@PorfirioDiaz ; I was in uniformed law enforcement for 31-years and Uvalde was an outlier. Most major Law Enforcement Departments have been trained in specific procedures relevant to responding to an "active shooter" and the acceptable and approved tactics were not adhered to in Uvalde.

    Hello P:

If a cop won't investigate a police department he's interested joining, he's a wart on society..  Don't tell me that a seasoned investigator couldn't have discovered that the cops in Uvalde are clowns.

My understanding is that you should study the idea of a window of opportunity and assembly of a United States Constitutional Right. Do you honestly believe that added death to a horrid situation is the more perfect state of the union to be made with established justice? I question that. The State of the union address to be made with a Federal Senate and Congress is to evaluate what the United States Constitutional rights formed by criminal legislation of law on gun control are. The State of the union to be given to States Senate and Congress on this matter may be different. The whole truth here is just because the people do not agree that something is unconstitutional right does not mean they are incapable of accidently creating unratified constitutional rights within the justice system never allowing them to go through the ratification process. This is an exsamle of improper legilsation.
